Hydrosols

Hydrosols have a history of usage world over in skin care, aroma  and culinary fields. Hydrosols are pure and natural waters that are produced during the steam distillation of plant materials such as leaves, flowers, peels, berries, wood, stems and roots. Rose water is known to be used since 10th century when it was invented by a persian scientist. Similarly kewra water historically has been used in India's culinary preparations. Rosemary (not rose) which is associated with enhancing memory and recall finds mentions when Shakespeare's Ophelia petitions Hamlet with, "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance, pray you love, remember." The bergamot, a citrus fruit growing in south italy is an essential ingredient of cologne water since 1600's when it was first introduced in France.
